Framework Stonelabs: A Modern Script Font That Elevates Small Business Branding

A Fresh Look for My Café’s Menu Design

Recently, I helped a local café refresh their menu design. They wanted something that felt more upscale without losing the warmth that keeps customers coming back. We tried a few fonts, but nothing quite clicked until we tested Framework Stonelabs. This modern script font from Integritype Studio brought a perfect balance of elegance and approachability. It wasn’t just about aesthetics—it helped the café look more polished and intentional, which is exactly what small businesses need to stand out.

What Makes Framework Stonelabs Unique

Framework Stonelabs is a script font that leans into contemporary design while maintaining a personal, handcrafted feel. Unlike overly ornate scripts, it’s clean and structured, making it ideal for modern branding. The letterforms have a slight slant and smooth curves that mimic natural handwriting, but with a refined edge. It carries a sense of movement and flow, giving it a dynamic personality that works well for both print and digital applications.

The font’s visual character is soft yet confident. It’s not too flashy, which makes it versatile for different industries—from food and beverage to wellness and lifestyle brands. Whether used in a logo, a product label, or a social media graphic, Framework Stonelabs adds a touch of sophistication without overwhelming the design.

Real-World Use: From Packaging to Social Media

I recently worked with a candle maker who wanted to redesign her product labels. She was using a basic sans serif font that felt generic and didn’t reflect the artisanal quality of her candles. When we swapped it out for Framework Stonelabs, the labels instantly looked more premium. The font’s elegant curves complemented the minimalist packaging and gave the brand a cohesive, upscale look that resonated with customers.

We also used the font in her Instagram templates. For example, on a post announcing a new scent, the font was used for the product name and key tagline. It stood out beautifully against soft background images and helped guide the viewer’s eye through the post. The same font was used across digital ads, thank-you cards, and even shopping bags, creating a unified brand identity that felt intentional and professional.

Best Use Cases for Framework Stonelabs

Framework Stonelabs works best as a display font. It’s ideal for headlines, logos, packaging titles, and short phrases rather than long paragraphs. Because of its script nature, it shines in branding applications where visual impact matters more than readability over extended text.

One thing to keep in mind: while it’s highly readable at larger sizes, you’ll want to test its legibility on small labels or mobile screens. For instance, when used on a candle jar, we made sure the text size was generous enough to remain clear. In digital formats like Instagram stories or website headers, it performed beautifully, especially when paired with a clean sans serif for body text.

Pairing Framework Stonelabs with Other Fonts

Typography pairing is key to a balanced brand identity. Since Framework Stonelabs is a script font, it pairs well with simpler, more neutral typefaces that let it shine. I often recommend combining it with:

  1. A clean sans serif (like Montserrat or Lato) for a modern, minimal contrast
  2. An elegant serif (like Playfair Display) for a more traditional, upscale feel
  3. A minimalist handwritten font for a playful, cohesive script pairing

For the café menu, we used Framework Stonelabs for the dish names and paired it with a light sans serif for descriptions and pricing. The result was a design that felt both stylish and easy to navigate. On product packaging, we used it alone for a clean, one-typeface approach that kept the design minimal yet memorable.

Technical Considerations for Business Use

Before rolling out any font for commercial use, it’s important to check the licensing. Framework Stonelabs is a commercial font, which means it’s safe to use in product designs, packaging, digital assets, and client work—provided you have the proper license.

It also comes with a variety of styles and alternates, including ligatures and swashes, which add customization options. The multilingual support makes it a good fit for businesses with international customers or those planning to expand. File formats typically include OTF and TTF, ensuring compatibility across design platforms like Adobe Illustrator, Canva, and Figma.

Why Typography Matters for Brand Perception

Typography is often overlooked, but it plays a huge role in how your brand is perceived. The right font can communicate professionalism, warmth, innovation, or luxury—sometimes all at once. When a customer sees a well-designed label or a social media post, they’re not just reading text—they’re forming an impression of your business.

Using Framework Stonelabs helped the candle brand feel more artisanal and the café look more upscale. It created a sense of consistency across all touchpoints, which builds trust and recognition. Small businesses may not have the budget for a full rebrand, but a thoughtful font change can have a surprisingly big impact.
